What are Canopy Tanning Units?

You may or may not have heard of canopy tanning units. This type of tanning bed is steadily climbing up the “popularity charts” among self tanners who want to have their own tanning beds.

Owning your personal tanning bed and having it at home can turn out to be a great investment. The amount of money you shell out for every tanning session at a tanning salon, when accumulated over a number of months or years, will add up to quite a hefty amount – an amount equal to the price of personal tanning beds. You can even save on travel time and gas! Plus, you can use your tanning session at home as your own “me time” for reflection and relaxation.

Canopy tanning units are a type of portable tanning bed that is increasing in status in the residential area of the tanning industry. These portable tanning units consist of canopies lined with UV lamps and are hydraulically mounted on support structures with wheels for easy movement and maneuverability. All that is required of the tanner is to find a position he or she is comfortable in on his personal chair or towel and let the tanning unit do its job.

Canopy tanning units have certain advantages over their horizontal and vertical counter parts. For one, canopy tanning units cost far less compared to the other designs. Tanning units are rather expensive, and since purchasing a canopy unit is like purchasing only one half of an entire clamshell unit (the part that is lined with the UV lamps), you also get to pay only for half the price of other designs.

Canopy tanning units can provide the same full tan as that provided by other designs. These units use the same principle as those of other tanning unit designs. Canopy tanning units are equipped with UV lamps to initiate and stimulate the tanning process. This unit works the same way as the other tanning beds; the only difference is in the design.

They can also fit in limited and cramped spaces and can be stored easily. This type of tanning bed does not require a lot of space for storage as compared to horizontal tanning beds. You can just let the canopy tanning unit stand on one corner of your home where it doesn’t take up a lot of space.

These units are also adjustable and can accommodate any size, type and length of body. Generally, tanning beds are constructed in six or seven foot lengths and have plastic or glass areas that are specially contoured to suit the body. Users of canopy tanning units don’t need to “fit” this pre defined shape. Canopy units can be used by individuals of any size, shape or form.

Canopy tanning provides for selective tanning. In case you need to even out your tan, you can always just lie on one side and let the tanning lamps do the magic. Unlike tanning booths that provide tans in a 360 degree area, canopy tanning units can allow you to tan only a specific side of your body in any case of unfortunate incidents wherein you fell asleep while tanning on the beach and forgot to turn over.

Canopy units are also fully mobile. They can be moved anywhere within your house, from your family room to your bedroom, even to your garage! This type of tanning unit does not require a permanent space in your house.

Despite the obvious fact that tanners who choose to use this type of tanning unit will need more time for their tanning sessions, canopy tanning units are a great alternative to using tanning beds in commercial tanning salons. These units are designed for convenience, affordability and are ideal for use at home.
