The skin loses its elasticity and youthful glow if it is exposed too often to UV rays. The rest is the person looks years older than they really are. The skin often sags, develops wrinkles, and many feel leathery. It is common for people who use tanning beds to develop extremely dry skin. This leads to itching which is very uncomfortable and annoying. If the individual already suffers from a skin disorder such as eczema or psoriasis it can cause even more damage to the skin when tanning is taking place. For those individuals who have very fair skin, you can harm it if you are exposed to the UV rays too long in a tanning bed. If you don’t tan well outdoors then you will have trouble doing so in a tanning bed as well. You don’t want to have a tanning session long enough to cause the skin to get burned. This can result in the skin drying out, peeling, and even blistering. This type of sunburn is often very painful and uncomfortable. If you are taking any medications, tanning beds can cause skin problems that have to with spotting. This is because some areas of the skin may not be able to tan due to their location or your genetic composition. Tanning beds can also lead to pigment changes of the skin in various areas. This will result in your tanning experience not getting you an even, golden brown color. Such pigment changes are often permanent and there is no way to reverse them. They frequently appear on the face and neck areas. Using tanning beds can permanently alter the development of cells. This can cause the skin to not be able to regenerate or heal as quickly as it normally would. It can also make you more susceptible to various viruses and illnesses because the skin isn’t protecting you from foreign things entering it as before. The different skin problems that you are at risk for when it comes to using at tanning bed can be a combination of all the above. The more often you tan, the higher risk you have of skin problems occurring. It is important to understand that most of them won’t be noticeable until severe damage has already taken place. Therefore, you really need to weight the consequences against the results when you decide if you want to take part in using a tanning bed.
